With contributions from Sutherland Medical and other generous donors, Product Manager Joseph Tutone recently travelled for 4 weeks to Uganda, Africa to work with the ISA Care4Kids children's home and to assist in the water and sanitation programs with LWD (Living Water Developments).

From working at the children's home located in Jinja (the source of the Nile) to a small village on the outskirts of a town called Bweyale, (approx 300klms north of Uganda's Capital city Kampala) Joe and Alan Toole (LWD) spent this time teaching first aid, hygiene, sanitation and micro finance (and exercise with the kids !) Other projects included working with the locals in teaching and constructing of irrigation systems and the development of a rope pump (hand pumps invented by the Chinese 2000 years ago !) in the village outside of Bweyale.

Funds also went to the connection and provision of power to a local medical centre (see below) in the area of Jinja that deliver approx 4 children a week and have not had no power for over 2 years. And to the repairs of the wheelchair of local girl named Joan (pictured below) and the funding of her school fees for her future.
